[Closed Captioning]

These works are interpretations of communication and honor the common longing to better understand each other and this complex world. The titles come from the descriptions of sounds in the closed captioning that is always on in our bilingual household, making me yearn for a guidebook to interpret so many conversations. Using some combination of encaustic, graphite, and oil, marks are generated from a pattern of voice or reference static on an old screen or in the air.
