Fields
A few paintings into this series, I realized I had become deeply focused on the point of tension and communication where dark and light meet. I recognized something familiar in this preoccupation. More than any other work I've made, these paintings draw directly from my experience as a midwife. I have spent much of my life accompanying people through profound transitions, witnessing and making space for something to happen without controlling the outcome unless necessary.
In Fields, I explore the threshold as both an internal experience and natural phenomena, expressed through shifting atmosphere and shape across a landscape. The paintings are titled as reminders of ways to care for ourselves amid change. They hold space for the possibility of refuge, release, and a chance for us to connect our presence with the natural world.
