Encaustic and oil on panel

By painting my version of what my teenage son sees while piloting a drone, this work is an attempt to express the simultaneous connection and separateness we have from other people and our environment. The drone lens can distort our expected view of the horizon, and I abstract the landscape farther. Pushing the perspective, colors, and textures, I'm trying to convey the gaps we feel between people, even when we hold them close. I hope the viewer feels the beauty and opportunity in these sometimes awkward spaces and considers multiple perspectives for one narrative.
